| This unit describes various layers present in the TCP/IP protocol suite. The TCP/IP protocol suite maps roughly to the OSI reference model. In this unit, you will learn about the Application layer protocols. This unit also discusses the TCP and UDP protocols used in the Transport layer. You will also learn about the functionality of TCP. Finally, you will learn about the TCP handshake mechanism, which is used for establishing a session. |
| Outcomes: |
| Upon completion of this unit the student should be able to describe the TCP/IP protocol and how it maps to the OSI Reference Model. Student should understand the Transport Layer of the OSI Reference Model. |
| Assessment: |
| Students are presented with pre-course test to determine their knowledge before taking the course. During the course students will be presented with a series of quizzes to determine gained knowledge and retention of each section. At the end of the course students will be given a post course test to measure their overall understanding of the subject and retention of knowledge. By comparing their pre and post course test scores, students will be able to measure their knowledge gain. |
