Full Description
In this unit, you will learn about the routing process, which determines the best path to destination networks for incoming packets. You will also learn about the addressing schemes of several Network layer protocols. This unit also covers the difference between the routed and the routing protocols. You will learn about the operations of the Network layer resulting from data packets passing through routers. You will also learn about multi-protocol routing and host-to-host communication in LANs and WANs.
Outcomes:
Upon completion of this unit, student will have learned about and can describe the Network Layer of the OSI Reference model and understand the routing process and how data packets pass through the routers.
Assessment:
Students are presented with pre-course test to determine their knowledge before taking the course. During the course students will be presented with a series of quizzes to determine gained knowledge and retention of each section. At the end of the course students will be given a post course test to measure their overall understanding of the subject and retention of knowledge. By comparing their pre and post course test scores, students will be able to measure their knowledge gain.
