| This unit introduces the concept, purpose, and operation of the Access List. It explains two types of Access List, the Standard Access List and the Extended Access List, and the differences between them. The unit also covers the two steps in configuring the Access List, defining an Access List, using global commands, appling the Access List to an interface. Finally, in this unit you learn how to identify a particular Access List as an IP, IPX, AppleTalk, or DECnet Access List. |

| Upon completion of this unit, student will know, understand, and be able to discuss the concepts and purposes of access lists as they relate to router monitoring and security. |
| Assessment: |
| Students are presented with pre-course test to determine their knowledge before taking the course. During the course students will be presented with a series of quizzes to determine gained knowledge and retention of each section. At the end of the course students will be given a post course test to measure their overall understanding of the subject and retention of knowledge. By comparing their pre and post course test scores, students will be able to measure their knowledge gain. |
