HyperStudio Basics


Full Description


HyperStudio Basics is a seven day online course. This class will explore educational applications and implications of hypermedia, provide you with an overview of using HyperStudio and an opportunity to develop both your own hypermedia project and a lesson plan incorporating the use of HyperStudio.

This course is offered by a State Accredited University and offers State Board Continuing Education credits for Michigan teachers. If you are located in a state other than Michigan, please check to see if your State Board will honor the Continuing Education Credit. The course provider will be happy to provide you with appropriate documentation.

This course is designed for K12 teachers but the concepts and examples will translate for any online course developer.

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Differentiate hypermedia resources from other traditional media resources (e.g. books, film, etc.)
  • Develop hypermedia projects including text, video, audio, still pictures, and animations by using HyperStudio®
  • Provide a rationale for the use of hypermedia in educational settings and develop a complete lesson or unit plan that integrates the use of HyperStudio® into your teaching
  • Instruct your students in utilizing and producing HyperStudio projects

Grading Policies:  This course is self-directed and assessments are graded immediately upon completion. Please check your success in the Tools, Gradebook area. Assessments can be re-taken any time during the course. This course allows you to earn 1 SB-CEU which is available to anyone completing the course with a 70% or better passing score.

Lesson 1
Lesson 1 - Introduction to HyperStudio This lesson introduces you to the HyperStudio program.  Basic ideas for the implementation of HyperStudio into your classroom are presented.
Lesson 2 - Examples of HyperStudio projects Preview a number of HyperStudio projects on the web from both student and instructor projects.
Lesson 3 - Description of the Menu Bar Features Lesson 3 details the options available in the menu bar and covers important details for using each item. Links to other web-based media are included.
Lesson 4 - Creating Stacks and Working with Cards This lesson covers the development of a HyperStudio project.  Phases of a project are outlined.
Lesson 5 - Integrating HyperStudio  into Classroom Teaching As you return to your own classroom to use HyperStudio , it is important to have some integration ideas.  This lesson suggests ways you can easily integrate HyperStudio.
