Once participants have completed this program, they will understand that there’s an art to bringing the best out of people. Specifically they will be able to:
- Understand what coaching is, its benefits, and how to overcome common barriers to coaching and being coached.
- Plan a coaching project and know how to pick when, what and who to coach, and know how to plan their coaching approach according to the learner’s performance and motivation.
- Identify effective coaching skills, and understand the differences between coach (push) and learner (pull) centred behaviors.
- Assess their own core coaching skills and will have developed a self-development plan.
- Use the GROW (Goals, Reality, Options and What) model to plan effective coaching sessions.
- Assess the coaching relationship – understand the importance of feelings, and know what to do if the relationship is working and what if it isn’t.
- Define and review benchmarks of success – for the learner and for themselves.
