Coaching For Performance


This course helps participants develop a structured approach to coaching. It helps them to recognize good coaching opportunities and plan successful coaching programs. It helps them to prepare and carry out productive coaching sessions and adjust their coaching style to suit the person and the situation.



Outcomes:


Once participants have completed this program, they will understand that there’s an art to bringing the best out of people. Specifically they will be able to:
  • Understand what coaching is, its benefits, and how to overcome common barriers to coaching and being coached.
  • Plan a coaching project and know how to pick when, what and who to coach, and know how to plan their coaching approach according to the learner’s performance and motivation.
  • Identify effective coaching skills, and understand the differences between coach (push) and learner (pull) centred behaviors.
  • Assess their own core coaching skills and will have developed a self-development plan.
  • Use the GROW (Goals, Reality, Options and What) model to plan effective coaching sessions.
  • Assess the coaching relationship – understand the importance of feelings, and know what to do if the relationship is working and what if it isn’t.
  • Define and review benchmarks of success – for the learner and for themselves.


Assessment:


After reading the material, you'll have a chance to play an online game that presents hypothetical scenarios for you to analyze. As you answer the multiple-choice questions correctly, you'll move through the game and earn a Certificate of Completion.
