Full Description
Welcome to our Expert Certificate Medical Transcription course
This is our most comprehensive MT course, with 50% more dictation practice than our Advanced - a total of 2880 minutes of doctor-dictated reports to give you 288 hours of practice (one minute of dictation is equivalent to six minutes of transcription on average). An experienced MT as your instructor, 38 modules of instruction, and a wealth of resources and information prepare you for success as an independent MT to work either at home or in any healthcare facility. This course contains a wealth of resources and information that give you the skills for success as an independent transcriptionist, including a module on how to prepare for the certification examinations issued by the AAMT (American Association for Medical Transcription). We don`t just train you for a new career. We give you access to a database that specializes in at-home employment. Loaded with an array of more than 2500 jobs, it gives you the opportunity to apply for jobs all over the country when you graduate. More than 50 companies have hired our grads, and the US Department of Labor forecasts the annual growth rate of the MT profession to be 21%-35% through 2012. This means a continuation of excellent job potential over the next eight years. Medical transcription is an ideal career for anyone with typing skills and an interest in healthcare.
Common Questions
How long will it take me to complete the course? The amount of time it takes to complete the course is dependent upon the time you are able to spend in study. Some students are able to complete the course in as little as five months. However, most students take one full year to finish their studies. The course is entirely self-directed; you may take as much time as you need. When will I receive my materials? Materials are shipped within 2 business days and typically arrive between 5 and 10 business days after shipment, depending on the location. Materials are divided into additional shipments with payment plans. Will I be able to work at my own pace? Yes. The unique modular format of the M.I.M.E. instruction method allows you to stop after each segment and start again at your leisure. It can be finished in 5 to 7 months, but since it is done at your own pace, your personal schedule governs your completion time. Most students take up to 12 months. What is the Work Placement Program and how do I become eligible for it? The Work Placement Program was developed to help MT students find jobs when they finish our Expert Certificate course. An overall average of 95% qualifies grads for the WPP. When this grade has been achieved, we will put students in contact with participating MT companies, who have waived their usual two-year work experience requirement. Students then test with companies that have openings. WPP Benefits Summary
  • Helps qualified grads find jobs sooner
  • Qualified students can test for job placement with our participating MT companies upon graduation
  • Eliminates "pounding the pavement" and cold calling companies
  • Customary two-year work experience requirements waived
  • May include both full-time and part-time work
