Introduction to Inspiration and Kidspiration

Course Description
is a seven day online course. This course introduces you to Inspiration and Kidspiration, a software package used to help students organize and develop their ideas. Students will learn how to navigate the toolbars and manipulate text within the program. Students will also learn how to integrate this program into their classroom.

This course is offered by a State Accredited University and offers State Board Continuing Education credits for Michigan teachers. If you are located in a state other than Michigan, please check to see if your State Board will honor the Continuing Education Credit. The course provider will be happy to provide you with appropriate documentation.

This course is designed for K12 teachers but the concepts and examples will translate for any online course developer.

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Have a working knowledge of Inspiration
  • Create hands on activities using Inspiration and Kidspiration
  • Learn how to integration Inspiration and Kidspiration into your classroom

Assessment
Grading Policies: This course is self-directed and assessments are graded immediately upon completion. Please check your success in the Tools, Gradebook area. Assessments can be re-taken any time during the course. This course allows you to earn 1 SB-CEU which is available to anyone completing the course with a 70% or better passing score.

Outline
  1. Lesson 1 - Introduction to Inspiration/Kidspiration This lesson reviews student performance through visual learning techniques. Key theories regarding critical thinking, comprehension and organization are presented.

  2. Lesson 2 - Description of Kidspiration Menus Lesson 2 details the menu selections in the Kidspiration program and explains views and navigation techniques.

  3. Lesson 3 - How to use Kidspiration This lesson introduces a variety of uses for picture and writing views within the Kidspiration work area. Creating and modifying an activity is discussed along with libraries of useful items and tips.

  4. Lesson 4 - Description of Inspiration Menus Lesson 4 details the menu selections in the Inspiration program and explains views and navigation techniques.

  5. Lesson 5 - How to use Inspiration A detailed description of Inspiration menus and navigation are presented in this lesson. Links to online Inspiration tutorials are also provided.

  6. Lesson 6 - Implementing Inspiration/Kidspiration into Curriculum In this Lesson, several examples of successful Inspiration/Kidspiration projects are provided.
