Course Description
course is a seven day online course that focuses on the basic use of Respondus a test generation tool, and helps you discover how to integrate online assessments into your classroom.

This course is offered by a State Accredited University and offers State Board Continuing Education credits for Michigan teachers. If you are located in a state other than Michigan, please check to see if your State Board will honor the Continuing Education Credit. The course provider will be happy to provide you with appropriate documentation.

This course is designed for K12 teachers but the concepts and examples will translate for any online course developer.

Outcome
After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe the different types of test items
  • Define which test item type is better suited for measuring particular learning objectives
  • List the major differences between computer-assisted and traditional testing
  • Describe and use the drop-down menus and the toolbar of Respondus
  • Describe and use the major program menus of Respondus
  • Create tests/surveys for printed and/or computerized assessment using Respondus

Assessment

Grading Policies:  This course is self-directed and assessments are graded immediately upon completion. Please check your success in the Tools, Gradebook area. Assessments can be re-taken any time during the course. This course allows you to earn 1 SB-CEU which is available to anyone completing the course with a 70% or better passing score.

Lesson 1 - Assessing Student Learning
This lesson covers assessment categories and the types of questions that support objective and subjective testing. Links are provided to additional information on creating online test questions.

Lesson 2 - Introduction to Respondus
Lesson 2 introduces Respondus software and its capabilities. Descriptions of the user interface and an overview of the test creation process is covered.

Lesson 3 - Description of the Pull-down Menu and Toolbar
This lesson details important functions of the Respondus program and helps you become familiar with what options are available.

Lesson 4 - Description of the Main Program Menu
Lesson 4 covers the previewing and reporting tools available in the Respondus program. You will learn to use the edit menu to alter program settings to your preferences.
